  • Day 11: FMHW

Relax ... and win a prize!

Win a Trio Therapy Pack - 6ft Stretch Out Strap, 10"x13" Dual Comfort (hot/cold) Pack, and a 4oz tube of Biofreeze!($55 value)

Send me the answer the following question by 5pm tonight:    What has been the focus/challenge the past 3 days?

I will put the names of everyone who answered correctly into a hat and pull out one name. The winner will be announced tomorrow.

Why is sleep important? When we sleep, the body shuts down and repairs itself. Your immune system recharges. Your major organs are restored. Old cells are being replaced with new ones. Your mind relaxes and orders its thoughts, creating a healthy mental state.  I once read, "A good night's sleep is free. A bad nights sleep is costly, because it takes a toll on your health."  So, stay FOCUSED on getting some rest.

  • Day 10: FMHW

Are you thirsty? ... Then drink some water!

Water is vital to our health & wellness. Here are just a few of the many benefits of drinking water:

    * Water assists in weight loss and maintaining a healthy body weight by increasing metabolism and regulating our appetite.

    * It also leads to increased energy levels due to common daytime fatigue being closely linked to moderate dehydration.

    * It has been advocated that drinking adequate amounts of water can decrease the risk of certain types of cancer, particularly colon cancer.

    * It can have a significant impact in reducing overall pain.

    * Water may prevent and alleviate headaches.

    * We experience greater mental clarity when properly hydrated.

    * Water is an excellent moisturizer, and stimulates cellular structure within the epidermis to provide a healthy and glowing skin.

So, put down that Diet Pepsi or Starbucks and drink some water right now and throughout the rest of the day...everyday!

You can do it! Stay FOCUSED!!

    Day 9: FMHW

    Reach for the sky...

Yesterday I challenged you to exercise.
Today I challenge you to STRETCH! Stretch before your workout (you are exercising today right?), after your workout, at your desk, at home, right now as you read this email!
    Why? Did you know stretching:
    •Increases flexibility.
•Improves range of motion of your joints.
    •Improves circulation.
    •Can relieve stress.
    •Helps to prevent injury.

With all those benefits, why wouldn’t you stretch?!

If you are unsure of what stretches you should be doing or how to stretch, let me know and I will send you a stretch routine via email for you to follow or you can schedule a 30-minute stretch session here at Trio Therapy. I am offering this session at a FMHW discounted price of only $33 (regularly $45) to the first 10 who schedule!
Stretching is a very effective way to keep the body healthy and anyone can do it, no matter what your flexibility level. No excuses!

    Let’s keep the FOCUS!

  • Day 3: FMHW

It' time to SHAKE things up!

Here's a list of what everyone is focusing on this week. There were many duplicates and similar answers, so we condensed for space purposes. If you have not chosen something to focus on yet, take a look at the list and see if you get inspired!

    • My nutrition  • I'm staying away from fast food! -J.A.  • Walking EVERYDAY! -M.J.  • Getting back to my exercise routine  • Getting to bed early and reading a book for 20min per day! -Matthew  • Playing with my kids! -P.A.  • Taking time to stretch everyday -J.C.  • Getting my monthly massage again!! -R.T.  •Meditate daily. -C.G.  • Drinking more water! • Start training for a 1/2 Marathon!  -R.N.  • Incorporating recovery time into my weekly fitness routine  • Fueling my body for wellness – physically and emotionally  • 3 deep cleansing breaths at transition points in daily activities - M.W.  • Get caught up on my doctor visits: medical, dental, vision...I'm way behind! -S.M.

    Hi Matthew,
You got me thinking- a good thing!- According to merriam-webster.com  “fo·cus  Pronunciation:  \ˈfō-kəs\ has several meanings, here are a couple:

a localized area of disease or the chief site of a generalized disease or infection5 a: a center of activity, attraction, or attention; b: a point of concentration
6: the place of origin of an earthquake or moonquake; 7: directed attention “.

I loved that focus can be an origin of an earthquake, something that may rattle me out of my comfort zone. I envision focus being like sitting in a quiet room and meditating, making new goals or doing a hard math problem. But REALLY focus is much more active!

I had this book by my bed when I was ‘home bound’ for 5 months- Here is one excerpt from The Rhythm Of Life- Living Everyday WITH Passion And Purpose- by Matthew Kelly ....another Matthew I’m learning from! J
“What is it that sets men and women of great achievement apart from the rest of humanity? What do Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., JFK, Warren Buffet, Albert Einstein, John Quincy Adams, Ronald Regan, Charlie Chaplin, Michael Jordan, Leonard da Vinci, Beethoven, Mother Teresa and Billy Graham all have in common? What empowers them to touch and affect so many people’s lives? What allows them to grasp success and reach levels of achievement that for most people are simply unfathomable?
Passion. They are passionate about what they do.
Belief. They believe in what they do.
Commitment. They are committed to what they do.
Courage. In the face of situations where other people would lose heart, they take heart.
Perserverance. Thought the discouragement of failure, rejection and criticism, they preserver and keep at it, always staying focused (my emphasis added) on their personal goal and dream.

Passion, belief, commitment, courage and perserverance.

And so it will be with your life. There will be tough times- they are for everyone. There will be times of fear and trembling. There will be times of discouragement and disillusionment. Have courage, smile, keep your chin up, laugh often, be kind to yourself. (my emphasis added) Stay focused (my emphasis added) , be gracious and appreciative, think happy thoughts and carry on regardless.”

I also found 25 entries in the Bible on Focus- The Message version of the Bible of course…these are some of my fav…

    Philippians 3:15
So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it.

    Matthew 17:17
Jesus said, "What a generation! No sense of God! No focus to your lives!
    - Janet H.

  • Day 2: FMHW
Let me know what your focus is today/this week!
  • Day 1: Focus on MY Health & Wellness (FMHW)
What will you be FOCUSING on this week? Take the challenge!
